

The objective of this project was to design a new logo for a local restaurant of my choosing. The new logo must reflect the restaurant’s values, appeal to their target audience, and communicate their aesthetic and fare. After choosing The Black Walnut as my restaurant for this project, I did some research on its history, current branding, values, price range, and target audience. I decided to keep the pre-existing colour scheme of black and shades of brown becuase of the sense of comfort and luxury they communicate. However, I felt that the current logo looked a little outdated, so I created a wordmark using a bold typeface to give a sense of modernity. Once the new logo was finalized, I also created some stationery—a letterhead, an envelope, and a business card—and applied my logo to each piece to show how the new branding would appear in various forms. I used Adobe Illustrator to complete this project.
